With the popularization of buses, people have higher and higher requirements for bus comfort, energy conservation and environmental protection, and the performance of automobile air conditioners has attracted more and more attention. Compared with traditional manual air conditioning, the new automatic air conditioning system can significantly improve fuel economy and reduce carbon emissions. The core of automatic air conditioning control is the air conditioning controller, and its control strategy and control accuracy are related to the performance of the automatic air conditioning. Related companies have provided a series of damper motor drive chips used in bus automatic air conditioning, which can achieve perfect fault diagnosis and protection, and effectively improve the overall performance and reliability of the automotive automatic air conditioning system. This paper analyzes the control principle, various fault states and protection requirements of the automobile air-conditioning damper motor, and proposes the control logic for fault diagnosis and protection of the automobile damper motor, and finally gives the verification results of the actual system.

In the entire bus automatic air-conditioning system, the damper actuator is one of the most core control devices, mainly used to control the system operation mode, adjust the system temperature, and set the internal and external air circulation. Generally, single temperature zone automatic air conditioners have three damper actuators to control the functions mentioned above. There are more than four damper actuators in the dual temperature zone to better adjust the temperature of the rear passengers. Some complex automatic air conditioning systems for buses may have more than ten damper actuators to achieve more complex functions.

The maximum operating current of the internal motor of a typical damper actuator is about 60mA, and the maximum locked-rotor current is about 400mA. Due to the need to adjust the position of the air door at any time, a full-bridge drive is needed to control it, so as to adjust the running speed and direction of the motor at any time.
